Fellow from India gives hope to othersSubroto Das, '09 India, was selected as one of Times of India's Heroes of Hope this month for his work in helping those less fortunate and help them "aspire to a better life." He founded the Lifetime Foundation in 1999 to provide free highway rescue services to accident victims in his region. |
Under the proportional representation system, Niki Tzavela, '96 Greece, was recently elected as a Member of European Parliament. One of her main roles will be the Vice-Chairwoman for the Europe of Freedom and Democracy group. |
Martin Burt, '94 Paraguay, and his Teach a Man to Fish program, won The Japanese Award for the Most Innovative Development Project for the Financially Self-Sufficient School at the Global Development Network Annual Conference in Prague last week. For more information, click here. |

Inspector Castro is the new Commander of the Department's Traffic Division responsible for all special events in Philadelphia, including sporting events, concerts, parades, and logistics for all visiting dignitaries. |

In one of our most competitive selections to date, nine Fellows were selected from our leadership initiatives in New England, Philadelphia, St. Louis and one for our Agriculture program in one of our most competitive selections to date. Seven of the nine Fellows will participate in the fall 2010 Women's Leadership Program, joining Fellows from 12 countries around the world. In a new feature of the USA program, a trio of women Fellows focused on developing political leadership will travel together in Latin America for a substantial portion of their fellowship After joining our spring 2010 Multi Nation Program Fellows for an orientation seminar in Philadelphia, the 2010 USA Fellows will embark upon individual customized programs in Asia, Latin America, Australia, Russia, and the Middle East.
