Fellow from India gives hope to others

Subroto Das, '09 India, was selected as one of Times of India's Heroes of Hope this month for his work in helping those less fortunate and help them "aspire to a better life." He founded the Lifetime Foundation in 1999 to provide free highway rescue services to accident victims in his region.

Under the proportional representation system, Niki Tzavela, '96 Greece, was recently elected as a Member of European Parliament. One of her main roles will be the Vice-Chairwoman for the Europe of Freedom and Democracy group.

China (Taiwan) Fellow promoted to CEO

Wen-Ching "Wenny" Wang, '06 China (Taiwan), was promoted from editor-in-chief to CEO of Business Weekly Group this summer and is currently teaching at The Graduate Institute of Journalism at National Taiwan University.

USA Fellow from Philadelphia promoted

Dan Castro, '01 USA, was promoted from captain to inspector by Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey. Inspector Castro is the new Commander of the Department's Traffic Division responsible for all special events in Philadelphia, including sporting events, concerts, parades, and logistics for all visiting dignitaries.

2010 USA Eisenhower Fellows Selected

Eisenhower Fellowships is proud to announce the selection of the 2010 class of USA Fellows. In one of our most competitive selections to date, nine Fellows were selected from our leadership initiatives in New England, Philadelphia, St. Louis and one for our Agriculture program in one of our most competitive selections to date.

Seven of the nine Fellows will participate in the fall 2010 Women's Leadership Program, joining Fellows from 12 countries around the world. In a new feature of the USA program, a trio of women Fellows focused on developing political leadership will travel together in Latin America for a substantial portion of their fellowship

After joining our spring 2010 Multi Nation Program Fellows for an orientation seminar in Philadelphia, the 2010 USA Fellows will embark upon individual customized programs in Asia, Latin America, Australia, Russia, and the Middle East. They look forward to meeting Fellows around the world and to joining the alumni network.

Esteban Bullrich '06 Argentina appointed as Minister of Education for the city of Buenos Aires

Radio Journalist wins national prize

Silvia Bacher, '01, Argentina, received the 2009 University of Buenos Aires First Prize of Disclosure of Educational Contents (1° Premio UBA de Divulgaci—n de Contenidos Educativos 2009). She accepted it on behalf of herself and FM Continental. The award ceremony was led by the university rector, Ruben Hallu, and the members of the awards jury.

New Vice Minister of Defense for Colombia

Jorge Eastman, '02, Colombia, has been selected as the country's Vice Minister of Defense. At the time of his fellowship, he was a Special Advisor to the Secretary General of OAS for counter-terrorism and most recently, he was the Advisor to the President of Colombia for Communications.
