Lesego Sennelo leads a nonprofit focused on accelerating the advancement of African women chartered accountants. AWCA Investment Holdings was formed in 2008 by 60 black women chartered accountants with the goal of creating wealth in the long term while also generating sustainable income for the African Women Chartered Accountants (AWCA) forum. It currently has assets of approximately U.S.$3.4 million. AWCA is an important professional association in South Africa and has made strides in achieving gender parity in the field, increasing the number of women chartered accountants from 476 to 4,416 in 14 years. During her fellowship, Sennelo developed a leadership academy for the AWCA member base to equip both aspirant and qualified chartered accountants to play an effective role in the global business landscape and improve their communities through philanthropy.
