Carl Acolatse is the co-founder and CEO of MindNET Technologies, a business and technology consulting firm specializing in the renewable energy and environmental sectors. Among his company’s accomplishments are the creation of a business plan that raised more than $10 million in grant funding for a large, waste-to-energy project and the creation of a cosmetic and wellness brand made from organic ingredients sourced in Ghana. The brand is marketed in Japan and across Southeast Asia. On fellowship he would like to meet with U.S. experts on green energy, solar power and renewable resources to learn more about how to structure the nascent trust he is calling the “CEEDI Fund,” to support Clean Energy, Environment and Development Initiatives. The idea, he says, is not to replicate a traditional non-profit, but rather to create a for-profit fund that generates returns for its investors while also achieving some social good and protecting the planet.
