As an entrepreneur with IncUBAgro, an initiative of the agronomy faculty of the University of Buenos Aires, Mariana Calenda fosters collaborations between the country’s agricultural, scientific and technological sectors to confront the challenge of providing adequate food for the nation, while also protecting the environment. One of these projects focuses on improving the nutritional profile of food by using microalgae as a source of nutrients. On fellowship she would like to meet with food safety, energy and biotechnology experts to explore ways to scale up this microalgae project. She would also like to explore ways to ensure project sustainability from an economic dimension.
