Aiko Yabunaka is deputy director of the Japan External Trade Organization, a quasi-governmental association that promotes reciprocal trade and investment between Japan and the rest of the world. During a four-year posting in Cairo, she was instrumental in the organization’s outreach in the Middle East. On fellowship she met with corporate executives, entrepreneurs, and impact investors focused on inclusive business models and sustainable development in order to harvest best practices and set new criteria that can be shared with Japanese companies.
