Chris Gallavin is a professor at Massey University, one of New Zealand’s largest universities, with 35,000 students on campus, and 17,000 taking courses online. As deputy vice chancellor of the university’s college of humanities and social sciences, he oversees academic and strategic planning. On fellowship he plans to meet with U.S. foundation, business and academic leaders to explore ways to democratize college and university education.
