Candice Smith leads efforts to integrate global engineering talent and partner strategically with technical organizations to drive future technical and engineering success for The Boeing Company, the world’s largest aerospace company and leading manufacturer of defense, space and security systems. Smith enjoys working directly with aspiring engineers and innovators; she has mentored youth technical competitions like FIRST Robotics and Future City, and has served as a workshop facilitator at academic institutions in Chicago and St. Louis. On fellowship to Kenya and Singapore, Smith will examine the drivers and factors contributing to the youth “do-it-yourself” or DIY mantra, the maker/tinker movement, the global focus on STEM education and social innovation trends in order to empower youth to create solutions to challenges outlined by businesses, organizations and their communities. Devoted to empowering youths through education, she intends to leverage her fellowship to develop and deploy a youth empowerment innovation initiative in Chicago.
