As a city, Los Angeles is aggressively integrating other modes of transportation, including bicycles, buses, metro rail, app-based rideshare services and studying the viability of driverless vehicles. Jennifer Cohen, director of government affairs for the Los Angeles Department of Transportation, directs legislative advocacy and coordinates communication with government agencies. On fellowship Cohen will visit France and Singapore, countries that are pioneers in autonomous vehicle technology, to study technology in urban networks and how cities are deploying driverless transportation shuttles, in hopes of implementing best practices and transportation deployment strategies upon her return home. She will also visit Vietnam to see how developing countries are considering transportation technologies.
