FELLOWS GATHER IN SEOUL

The Eisenhower Fellows of Korea welcomed EF’s Senior Director of the Global Fellows Network, Diane Shoemaker, newly selected 2017 Korean Fellow, Kyungsang Yu, Senior Vice President, SK Planet and visiting Brazilian Fellow, Fernando Koch (2016) to a banquet dinner in Seoul in early November.

Shoemaker provided updates from EF Philadelphia, noting that two 2017 USA Fellows, Albert Chan, Vice President and Chief of Digital Patient Experience, Sutter Health and Peter Gonzales, President and CEO of the Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians will explore Korea on their respective Fellowships.

The Korean Fellows briefed the group on several professional updates and discussed opportunities to network as a country chapter, noting the 30th anniversary of the EF Korean Single Nation Program which will take place in 2017. Additionally, Fellows who participated in the 2011 EF North Asia program have had occasion to meet with their cohort in Mongolia and Shanghai and are planning their next reunion.

Shoemaker, along with Jinwoo So (2006) and Chunghwan Choi (2004), also paid a visit to the Mayor of Seoul, Won Soon Park (1999) at City Hall. Mayor Park remarked on the wealth of ideas gained on his Eisenhower Fellowship, many of which he implemented as an NGO leader and in his current role as Mayor.
