Daniel Banele Melaphi believes that only through active participation in the community around us can we address social challenges facing our society. As executive financial officer of Enactus, he is working to increase access to clean drinking water, in large part by purifying household waste water (known as ‘grey water’). By creating jobs in the local community, Enactus provides economic support as well as much needed clean water.

“I intend to use the knowledge gained from Eisenhower Fellowships to be ultimately poised for a lifetime of engagement in civic participation to solve local and global problems. I desire to have the tools to lead and have the ability to understand civic engagement activities beyond my discrete experience, and most importantly accomplish something significant by making a difference in the world.”
