Eisenhower Fellowships identifies, empowers and connects innovative leaders through a transformative fellowship experience and lifelong engagement in a global network of dynamic change agents committed to creating a world more peaceful, prosperous and just.
Since 1989, the USA Program has sent more than 250 Americans abroad for customized, immersive international experiences. Each year, EF awards around 20 USA Eisenhower Fellowships to a diverse and dynamic group of leaders. Exceptional candidates who receive a USA Fellowship participate in one of three distinct programs:
- USA Fellowship: Ten candidates are awarded a five-week fellowship and typically visit one or two countries in the EF network.
- Zhi-Xing China Eisenhower Fellowship: Ten candidates are awarded a four-week fellowship and travel exclusively to China as a group.
- EF Agriculture Program: EF’s Agricultural Committee selects one Fellow -- an active farmer or rancher -- to visit one or two countries in the EF network.
Two international programs bring a total of 40-50 leaders to the U.S. for an intensive seven-week program. Each Fellow receives an individualized itinerary of meetings with leaders on subjects of relevance to them. Held in the spring and fall, the programs involve visits to 8-10 cities with 50-60 individual appointments, beginning and ending with group leadership development seminars in Philadelphia. During their travels, Fellows identify specific projects they will undertake upon returning home.
