Global Network Council

The Global Network Council is the foremost body of Fellows within Eisenhower Fellowships, advising EF’s president and senior management on programs, operations and engagement with its Fellows around the world to help shape the organization’s strategic evolution.

Leaders Among Leaders

Appointed by the EF president to three-year terms, members of this prestigious group are drawn from among the most accomplished Eisenhower Fellows from nearly 60 countries. These leaders among leaders represent the superb talent, rich diversity and unmatched reach of EF’s global network.

The Global Network Council meets annually in person, typically at EF conferences and other network and program events and convenes virtually three times a year. Working groups examine specific issues and provide recommendations for future EF programs, events and operations.

Global Network Council members help support Fellows’ projects of global and local impact and raise EF’s profile in every corner of the globe. They collect and disseminate personal and professional news about Fellows, help plan EF’s international conferences and identify and support fundraising opportunities. They strengthen the global Fellows’ network by sharing news of their work with other Fellows in their countries and regions, by actively engaging with EF’s country chapters and by participating in regional events.

GLOBAL NETWORK COUNCIL

In San Francisco, 27 prominent Fellows from 26 countries convened for the annual in-person meeting of the EF Global Network Council on October 18. This gathering of advisors to the president and senior leadership of EF came together from around the world to discuss important EF programs and initiatives and to brainstorm about ways to engage the global network to maximize the impact of our Fellows.

Guest speakers included Henry Ritchie, Partner of McKinsey & Company, who worked closely with EF throughout the course of 2018 to produce the organization’s first data-driven program impact evaluation study. Henry spoke about ways EF can build on our powerful legacy to advance our mission and ignite the network for impactful collaborations. Members of the Global Network Council discussed new digital tools to measure our impact, program the network and utilize technology to improve how and when our Fellows can connect virtually.

Nathan Sivagananathan (Sri Lanka 2015) and Wil McLellan (New Zealand 2014) shared compelling stories of how their fellowship projects empowered them to return home and make an even greater difference in their communities. Theirs and other stories of impact can be found on EF’s new Impact Blog, which was introduced to the Global Network Council during the meeting.

The Fellows in the GNC also discussed the EF capital campaign to grow the organization’s endowment and possible future steps to engage Fellows around the world to participate.
